TITLE: Painter Apprentice
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school and work experience in painting or related field preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works under the direct supervision of a skilled painter to perform duties such as smoothing surfaces; painting, varnishing and staining; removing old finish from surfaces; filling holes, cracks and joints; spreading drop clothes and covering windows and doorframes; erecting scaffolding, etc.
Keeps the journeyman supplied with tools and materials.
Cleans work area, machines and equipment.
Performs routine tasks as needed.
Develops increasing skills in the painting trade.
Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing diversity.
Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to demonstrate the following physical demands to safely and productively perform the essential functions of the Painter position: The job requires constant standing/walking on concrete floors and even/uneven terrain, and handling materials/tools; frequent ladder climbing, work from floor to overhead; occasional sitting, pinching and exhibiting finger dexterity.
Must be able to lift/carry less than 10 lbs. constantly, 50 lbs. or less frequently and 50 to 80 lbs. occasionally.
Must be able to tolerate the above job demands on a regular schedule and as assigned.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
Applicant must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested
