The Patient Services Coordinator will serve as the initial point of contact at check-in. This role involves greeting patients and coordinating all services to ensure they are efficiently processed through the facility. This is a non-exempt, hourly position.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Enthusiastically greets patients, parents and visitors and ensures that all appropriate visitors/vendors sign in and are provided with a visitor badge.
- Answers, screens, and direct calls; documents and escalates all patient complaints; takes detailed messages and/or transfers telephone calls to appropriate team members or voicemail.
- Manages provider schedules, including scheduling appointments, handling no-shows, late arrivals, and appointment confirmations.
- Reviews voicemails throughout the day, addresses all messages, and directs them to the appropriate personnel.
- Assists patients with the completion of all required paperwork, scans insurance cards and photo IDs, and updates existing patient information and demographics into electronic system.
- Collects co-payments, deductibles and patient account balances; balances daily front desk collections and closes daily journals with the appropriate team members.
- Drafts return-to-school/work notes and other correspondence as directed by providers.
- Maintains a neat and orderly reception area.
- Communicates with patients/parents about wait times, including offering refreshments as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proof of automobile liability coverage in compliance with the State of Nevada’s compulsory automobile insurance laws.
- Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
- Completion of a medical office training program
- Personality and demeanor to work with the public and assist distraught families.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Frequently required to sit for 6-7 hours daily at a computer terminal.
- Frequently required to travel up to 25% of the week as required, with advance notice provided.
- Occasionally required to reach, bend, and move 15 lbs.
