What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Technician position at Current Openings?
Throughout the Gardner family’s ownership of Superior Trim, we have made, and continue to make, significant investments to ensure that Superior Trim has all of the appropriate technologies in-house and available to produce cost-competitive, high-quality interior and exterior trim products for medium/heavy duty trucks and other commercial vehicles that our customers expect.
Superior Trim Springfield is looking to add a quality technician that is focused on positively impacting plant quality.
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Various types of visual inspection including, but not limited to, receiving and in-process inspection of product.
- Maintain document control with regards to procedures and related documentation for the quality system of the Springfield Division.
- Channel questions and information from operators, vendors and customers to Quality Assurance Manager
- Create and control Process Sheets.
- Review and disposal of scrap product.
- In-process inspection of product as well as assisting during receiving inspection.
- Compile and maintain data on computer database.
- Basic filing of Quality Department documentation.
- Generate various Quality Assurance Department reports, letters, etc.
- Read and understand blueprints and drawings.
- Part of team that contributes to creation of Process Flows, Control Plans and FMEA’s.
- Support the corrective action (8-D) team through providing input as well as potentially producing the final draft.
- Assist with PPAP functions both from suppliers as well as to customers.
- Actively assist in conception and development of ‘Continuous Improvement’ functions.
- Process Customer rejections and issue RMA
Qualifications:

Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle for the purpose of travel between plants, customer locations, etc.
- High-level of visual awareness.
- Must be able to read, interpret and understand blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Previous experience with the use/reading of various measurement gauges.
- Ability to analyze and interpret technical information (familiarity with CAD/ 3D scanning is desirable)
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.
- Specific vision abilities required by this position are satisfied by passing the xrite color hue test
- Must understand continuous improvement concept / philosophy.
- Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. (experience, training, etc.)
- Previous experience in Quality control (Inspector/Technician) is desirable
- Previous experience with IATF16949 preferred
