Job Description
The Manager, Learning & Development is responsible for developing, executing, and supporting company-wide training and employee development initiatives. With oversight from the Senior HR Manager, this position will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) to create comprehensive training resources focused on products, job skills, systems, processes and tools. The L&D Manager will leverage strong decision making, communication, professionalism, and relationship building skills to partner with cross functional teams to identify training requirements, craft solutions, and deliver content through a variety of mediums. This role is based in Walnut Creek but options for remote work are available.
Duties and Responsibilities to include:
- Manage, develop, and deliver end-user course content and train-the-trainer content for multiple user personas and a variety of levels and roles in instructor-led, virtual, eLearning, and recorded formats.
- Collaborate with SMEs to create curriculum with technical certification paths for employees.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding employee training, development, and engagement.
- Develop, track and manage training evaluation process via knowledge assessments, training performance evaluations, and compliance surveys; provide ongoing feedback and recommendations.
- Update system training content to ensure that up-to-date knowledge is conveyed for each release.
- Manage the company’s Learning Management System (LMS) by assigning courses, tracking progress, following up on overdue courses, and providing employee support as needed.
- Develop and maintain operational and educational resources including workflows, infographics, charts, job aids and use of shared Box resources.
- Continue to evolve technical training curriculums based on feedback and research.
- Stay up to date on trends and developments in the industry that can better improve the overall training design, experience and retention.
- Actively engages in professional personal development; brings enthusiasm, passion and energy to the position.
- Drives, influences, advises and supports the culture and people aspects of organizational change, structures, processes and business improvement initiatives within the business area in order to improve business efficiency and people management.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Communication, Business, Education, or a related field
- 5 years’ experience in Instructional Design, Learning and Development, Organizational Development, Curriculum Design, Educational Technology or related field.
- 5 years’ experience effectively creating and managing training projects, curriculum design, course development and delivery with a range of customer stakeholders within retail and distribution.
- 3 years’ experience managing teams, projects, and personnel.
- 3 years’ experience administering and managing a Learning Management System (LMS).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- High level of flexibility, detail orientation, innovation, creativity and dependability are required.
- Superior presentation and facilitation skills.
- Familiarity with traditional and modern instructional design methods, tools and approaches.
- Strong time and project management skills.
- Ability to act independently, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Requires excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Must demonstrate diplomacy and tact while interacting with all levels within and outside the organization.
- Requires computer skills, including ability to use Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Master’s degree with coursework in I-O Psychology, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Business Management, Education, or a related field.
- Expert knowledge of applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Zoom, Adobe Presenter, etc.
- Experience with Articulate 360 (Rise 360), NetSuite and Canva.
