The Fabrication Department of an "Accredited" Adaptive Wheelchair Company (DME Co.) has a position open for an Mechanical Assembler. This is a career opportunity for someone with basic mechanical skills who, after learning the assembly process and having some customer service experience, could eventually advance with additional training into field-service. There are many areas of the company for advancement in this rewarding field of work.
Custom Mobility Inc. provides custom designed, upholstered seating systems and adaptive components, individually fit to the client and adapted to various wheelchair frames. The company sells a full range of manual and powered wheelchairs but specializes in the more complex rehab and assistive technology equipment. The company addresses the wheelchair and positioning needs of all ages from pediatric to adult and all levels of disability, working toward optimal functioning and independence. Custom Mobility also sells wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Full Time Position: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Requirements
Entry level mechanic will be trained in the current processes of assembly and mounting of hardware and wheelchair components for both manual and power wheelchairs.
-Must be skilled in using hand tools and pneumatic tools.
-Must be able to measure accurately and read written instructions.
-Trouble shooting experience of electronics or battery operated equipment helpful.
-Must be detail oriented and conscientious.
-Must have some relative work experience.
-Must have basic computer experience.
-Must be flexible and quick to adapt as changes are made in work assignments.
-Position requires light lifting ability.
All company positions require clear background, clean driving record and drug testing.
Previous experience in the DME industry of servicing equipment is beneficial.
Previous work assembling or servicing bicycles also beneficial
The company will train for the specific function of assembling components to wheelchair frames.
Applicant will be expected to learn the various wheelchair frames, components and replacements parts.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
