Summary/Objective:
The Physical Systems Security Technician is responsible for overseeing vendor-led installations, configurations, and maintenance of physical security systems, including access control systems, video surveillance (CCTV), and alarm systems. Acting as the primary point of contact for vendors, the technician ensures all work is completed on time, meets quality standards, and aligns with organizational policies and compliance requirements. This role involves conducting site inspections before, during, and after vendor activities to verify proper hardware placement, cable routing, and system integration. The technician performs thorough testing to ensure all systems are fully operational, properly configured, and seamlessly integrated into the organization s infrastructure. In addition to vendor oversight, the technician maintains detailed documentation of all installations, system configurations, and maintenance activities. They will address any deficiencies with vendors, follow up on resolutions, and provide progress updates to management. The technician also supports end-users by providing system training, basic troubleshooting guidance, and ongoing technical support to ensure smooth system operation and user confidence. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills, technical knowledge of physical security systems, and the ability to work collaboratively with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders to safeguard organizational facilities and assets effectively.

- Vendor Management
- Oversee vendor-led installations, configurations, and maintenance of physical security systems (CCTV, access control, alarm systems).
- Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors, managing schedules, resolving issues, and ensuring timely project completion.
- Review vendor plans and verify hardware placement, cable routing, and proper system configuration.
- Conduct on-site inspections before, during, and after installations to ensure compliance with organizational standards and safety protocols.
- Address and document deficiencies or non-conformities and follow up with vendors for prompt resolution.
- System Testing and Configuration
- Test all vendor-installed systems to ensure proper functionality, performance, and integration.
- Validate the operation of access controls, surveillance systems, alarm triggers, and device connectivity.
- Configure security systems, including user permissions, software settings, and integration with networks and existing platforms.
- System Maintenance Oversight
- Coordinate vendor-led maintenance and upgrades to ensure systems remain functional and up to date.
- Monitor system health in a weekly basis and report recurring issues to vendors for corrective actions.
- Validate completed maintenance work through testing and system performance checks.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of vendor activities, including installation details, configurations, maintenance logs, and testing results.
- Generate progress reports, identify risks or delays, and communicate updates to management.
- Document system diagrams, hardware inventory, and issue resolution history for reference.
- Training and Support
- Ensure end-users and staff are trained in vendor-installed systems, including basic operation and troubleshooting.
- Provide ongoing technical support for users and escalate issues to vendors as needed.

Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in electronics, IT, or a related field is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CCTV Technician Certification, Lenel Certified, or similar.
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in physical security system installation and maintenance.
- Proficiency with:
- Access Control Systems (e.g., Lenel, HID, Honeywell, or similar)
- CCTV systems and IP-based surveillance cameras (e.g., Digital Watchdog, Vicon, Avigilon or similar)
- Alarm systems and intrusion detection devices (e.g. Honeywell, Vicon or similar)
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, ports, and connectivity) is preferred.
