Residential Construction Estimator

Estimator - Job Responsibilities

• Guide project opportunities through the Design & Estimating Process
• Create Scope of Work for residential remodeling projects
• Review plans, Scope of Work, and specs for preliminary proposals
• Conduct constructability reviews and site evaluations
• Recommend alternative materials, subs, or vendors to avoid conflicts
• Collaborate with Sales and Design teams to establish Project Scope
• Develop Cost Estimates for new projects based on Specifications and Blueprints
• Ensure accuracy of Blueprint and Specifications Sheet during bidding
• Develop sales agreements from estimates
• Provide additional pricing for upgrades and client inquiries during the Build Process
• Support Sales team throughout the project, including project handoff and vendor negotiations
• Analyze cost effectiveness of materials and potential Value Engineering
• Assist Design team in managing the Design vs. Budget process
• Manage bid calendar to meet deadlines
• Organize estimating job folders
• Perform quantity take-offs for accurate pricing
• Solicit vendor and specialty trade subcontract pricing
• Write Construction scopes for all trades
• Build project estimates including materials, subcontracts, equipment, labor, and general conditions
• Finalize proposals and send to clients and subcontractors
  
  

Requirements

• 5 years' experience in residential remodeling sales or estimating
• Strong math and analytic skills
• Proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.
• Experience with BuildTrend Project Management Software is a plus
• Ability to liaise between departments, subs, vendors, and suppliers
• Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Construction Management preferred; students encouraged to apply
• Knowledge of current residential construction methods and building codes
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Highly motivated, honest, dependable, with a solid work ethic
• Familiarity with sub trades
• Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings
• Computer literate; proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
