As a Computer Operator, you will be providing technical support for production workload scheduling and coordination across four platforms in two datacenters. The position requires expertise in mainframe technology and efficient production processing methodologies to ensure seamless workflow operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day workload scheduling and job execution for multiple platforms.
- Perform technical analysis and consultation with development teams to support business initiatives.
- Utilize mainframe systems, including z/OS, IMS, DB2, VTAM, SDSF, ITOM, and JES2, for production operations.
- Process change and incident requests through the BMC Remedy system, ensuring adherence to policies.
- Update and maintain RACF-protected production libraries, program source codes, JCL, and related procedures.
- Oversee the configuration and implementation of batch job workflows, including scheduling and decommissioning legacy jobs.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of change requests, including approvals and policy enforcement.
- Handle exceptions and special job requests outside normal processing schedules with precision.
- Prepare and communicate daily reports detailing special job handling and schedule changes.
- Recommend improvements to workload scheduling standards, naming conventions, and error code handling.
Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:
- Proficiency in scheduling batch jobs for mainframe and server environments.
- Knowledge of z/OS, TSO, ISPF, JES2, ITOM, and associated mainframe systems.
- Experience with BMC Remedy Service Management System for IT request processing.
- Ability to perform technical analysis for production processing and incident resolution.
- Strong organizational and communication skills to ensure accurate daily reporting and scheduling.
- Familiarity with Tivoli Workload Scheduler and Dynamic Workload Console for batch job management.
- Capacity to support implementations or releases, including evening or weekend coverage.
- Ability to enforce and recommend policies and procedures for workload scheduling services.
- Collaborative and analytical mindset to improve operational standards and resolve complex requests.
