What are the responsibilities and job description for the Unmanned Maritime Systems Instructor position at D2 Government Solutions?
D2 Government Solutions (D2GS) is seeking one full time candidate for Unmanned Maritime Systems Instructor at our Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, CA site.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Adherence and Development:
- Abide by COMEODGRUONE approved curricula and Testing Plans, ensuring all instructional materials are in compliance with established directives.
- Prepare and maintain detailed lesson plans for assigned courses, incorporating quizzes, remedial assignments, and other instructional materials. Continuously update materials based on evolving mission requirements and student needs.
Course Delivery and Instruction:
- Provide expert instruction in EODTEU ONE UMS courses, effectively teaching topics such as mission planning, tactical employment, sonar interpretation, sensor data analysis, and Mine Warfare (MIW) messaging.
- Conduct both classroom and lab training in accordance with established learning objectives, ensuring proper use of instructional aids, training equipment, and devices.
Student Assessment and Remediation:
- Administer and grade knowledge and performance tests, providing constructive feedback and critiques in accordance with the Test Plan policy.
- Identify students requiring remediation, provide targeted academic or performance counseling, and develop strategies for improvement in both individual and group settings.
Safety and Security Compliance:
- Enforce safety procedures in both classroom and laboratory settings, ensuring compliance with Navy safety standards and regulations.
- Report any safety violations or discrepancies in equipment and student compliance, taking corrective action as needed to maintain a secure and safe training environment.
Training Support and Coordination:
- Collaborate with UMS leadership and the Training Team to ensure that all instructional tasks, equipment, and course scheduling are aligned with training objectives and requirements.
- Meet daily with leadership to assess training needs, prioritize tasks, and ensure instructor availability and support for all scheduled training activities.
Course and Equipment Maintenance:
- Perform routine maintenance and checks on all training equipment and materials, ensuring everything is in working order before each lesson.
- Report any discrepancies, including equipment failures or material shortages, to the appropriate leadership, ensuring the readiness of all training resources.
Continuous Improvement and Feedback:
- Participate in curriculum surveillance, providing ongoing assessments and recommendations for improvements to training materials, lesson plans, and testing procedures.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, recommending changes to the curriculum and assisting with the development of new instructional materials to enhance the effectiveness of the training program.
Education & Qualifications:
- Graduate of the Basic Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Course, CIN: A-062-0200, or an equivalent certification as determined by the EODTEU ONE Commanding Officer or their designee.
Experience:
- Two years of instructional experience in lieu of formal designation, evidenced by DD-214, course certificates, or other applicable documentation.
- Three years of demonstrated experience in courseware development and classroom instruction, specifically in the use and interpretation of underwater side scan sonar imagery, Forward-Looking Sonar (FLS) imagery (e.g., ATLAS), and Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS) imagery (e.g., SSAM), including advanced techniques in various bottom types.
- Three years of experience in the integration of FLS and SAS sensors into the MK18 Family of Systems (FoS) UUVs for Explosive Mine Countermeasure (ExMCM) applications and operations.
- Three years of experience in the application of FLS software (e.g., PUMA) and SAS software (e.g., NEXUS) for Post-Mission Analysis (PMA).
- Five years of operational experience in the tactical employment of the MK18 UUV FoS, including at least six months of deployed operational experience in direct support of military operations (e.g., Fifth Fleet operations).
Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Broad background, knowledge, and expertise in the Naval Operational Planning Process and Command and Control of assigned forces.
- Must have a strong foundation in underwater sonar systems and the technical aspects of UUVs and their integration into military operations.
Military Experience and Service:
- Honorably discharged from active-duty military service, if applicable.
- Must meet Navy High-Risk Training requirements as outlined in OPNAVINST 1500.75 series.
Instructor Training and Qualifications:
- All contract instructors must meet at least one of the following qualifications in accordance with NETCINST 1500.5 (Series) as acceptable forms of instructor training:
- Military service Instructor Training Course (ITC).
- Instructor training through an accredited academic institution.
- Academic credentialing (teacher/professor).
NETC Academic ITC Requirements:
- The accredited academic institution's ITC must include, at a minimum, the following Learning Objectives:
- Effective communication and questioning techniques.
- Adult learning theory and principles.
- Instructional delivery methods.
- Lesson delivery performance laboratory.
- Training environment management.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Evaluation and feedback techniques.
Security and Health:
- Must possess or qualify for a Security Clearance of SECRET.
- Must possess valid CPR certification or be able to obtain certification upon hiring.
