YOUR DAY-TO-DAY AS OUR IT TECHNICIAN II
This IT position with our county government typically works 8 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with some work required outside of business hours.
As an IT Technician II, you provide on-demand help-desk support, addressing technical issues for users across county departments. You're hands-on with computer hardware, assembling new systems and maintaining the existing inventory. When a workstation or subcomponent fails, you analyze the issue to determine if it requires repair or replacement. You're also quick to respond to security concerns, implementing protective measures to address suspicious activity. Throughout the day, you collaborate on database and network administration projects, ensuring the county's systems are efficient and secure. Your role is essential in keeping everything running smoothly.
Here's what you need to become our IT Technician II:
- Associate degree in computer science or related field
- 3 years of experience performing related duties
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
The following qualifications are preferred:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet browsers, Xerox hardware, and software specific to county departments
- Comprehensive knowledge of computer systems, including word processing, operating system fundamentals, and data communication concepts
- Thorough understanding of personal computer hardware and software configurations, capabilities, and troubleshooting
- Expertise in keyboard operations, as well as office practices and documentation procedures
