What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Volleyball Coach position at Dakota State University?
Dakota State University is seeking a dedicated and motivated Assistant Volleyball Coach to support our women’s volleyball program. This position plays a key role in developing student-athletes, enhancing team performance, and ensuring program success through coaching, and recruiting.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and conducting practices, game strategies, and skill development sessions.
- Provide on-court coaching during games, helping with tactical adjustments and player performance.
- Serve as head coach for the junior varsity team.
- Serve as recruitment coordinator by identifying and evaluating prospective student-athletes, ensuring a strong pipeline of talent.
- Establish relationships with high school and club coaches to enhance recruiting efforts.
- Coordinate campus visits and communicate program expectations with potential recruits.
- Support the academic, physical, and mental development of student-athletes.
- Organize and execute fundraising activities to support the volleyball program.
- Plan and manage youth camps and clinics to promote program visibility and development.
- Ensure compliance with university, conference, and NAIA regulations.
- Oversee equipment maintenance, including inventory, orders, and proper storage.
- Coordinate team travel.
- Manage game film recording, breakdown, and exchange for scouting and player analysis.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1-3 years of volleyball coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.
- Strong knowledge of game strategy and skill development, and player conditioning.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required by the position.
- Initiative to solve problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and people skills to effectively connect with student-athletes, coaching staff, and university stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Ability to obtain a CDL driver’s license for driving of team personnel.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
