Description
- Assist in the implementation of supports and programs to engage parents of emergent bilingual (EB) students in collaborative parent-school-community partnerships aimed at continually improving the academic performance of students.
- Collaborate in the coordination and implementation of events and activities for the purpose of enhancing and increasing the parent engagement of Emergent Bilinguals (EB) students.
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of programs to parents of Newcomer EB students including assisting in the coordination and support of learning opportunities to increase English proficiency levels for Newcomer EB students.
- Collaborate in the coordination of community outreach and support programs for parents of EB students on topics that will support families with acclimating to schooling and help parents support their children academically, socially and emotionally.
- Assist in coordinating all events and supports for the International Welcome Center in creating welcoming and efficient systems and processes for students and parents.
- Assist in the coordination, support and help improve communication among school personnel and non-English speaking parents.
- Assist and maintain appropriate records to include documentation of all coordinated and/or facilitated events and activities related to Title III functions (parental engagement).
- Perform all other related tasks and duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited university in Education or related field preferred; Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S.A. Equivalency) required.
- Working with English language learners’ parents in a Dual Language, ESL or Newcomer Programs.
- Demonstrates excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Oracle, as well as ability to communicate written and oral with a diverse community and the public at large.
- Demonstrates knowledge and experience in assisting in the development, implementation and monitoring of parent engagement programs.
- Demonstrates competence in cross-cultural communication, training ability, and parent-school-community Partnerships.
- Demonstrates ability to work successfully with parents of district students, as well as all levels of district employees.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
