POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Mavericks are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Production Assistant to support our TV broadcast team. In this role, you will be essential to ensuring smooth production operations during live and taped broadcasts, providing hands-on support in the fast-paced world of sports broadcasting. This entry-level position offers the opportunity to work closely with producers, directors, and other production staff to deliver high-quality sports content. The role requires a passion for sports media and the ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

- Provide support to the production crew during Mavs games, including pre-game, in-game, and post-game coverage.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of production equipment, including cameras, audio, and lighting, before and after broadcasts.
- Help prepare and manage on-screen graphics, player stats, and other visual elements used during live broadcasts.
- Capture, log, and organize video footage and highlight reels for use in live broadcasts and post-game analysis.
- Operate the teleprompter during live broadcasts as needed.
- Aid producers and directors with organizing schedules, managing scripts, and ensuring smooth broadcast operations.
- Act as a point of contact for crowd shots, camera placements, and managing on-site production needs during games and events.
- Research player stats, team histories, and current news relevant to broadcasts to ensure accuracy and enhance broadcast content.
- Maintain constant communication with on-air talent, production teams, and technical staff to relay crucial information during live events.
- Address any on-the-fly needs and requests during live broadcasts or taped segments to ensure smooth production flow.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job function as well as the following:
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills with the ability to manage various production elements simultaneously.
- Knowledge of broadcast equipment, production tools, and workflows.
- Familiarity with sports, particularly basketball and the NBA, is preferred.
- Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro is a plus.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- A strong interest in live sports production and a willingness to learn on the job.
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods during broadcasts.
- Ability to lift and carry production equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- This role requires flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as sports events often occur outside of regular office hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting, Media Production, Communications, or a related field preferred, but not required.
- Previous experience in television, film, or live sports production is preferred. Recent graduates or those with a strong interest in sports media are encouraged to apply.
