Edelman’s public and government affairs team are trusted and experienced public affairs advisors—including former government officials, political advisors, policy and regulatory experts, lawyers, economists, and industry professionals. Their experience within federal, state, and local government and regulatory systems allows us to help our clients understand and engage effectively. The team provides strategic counsel and develops campaigns to help clients engage with government, politics, policy, and regulation to proactively earn trust and achieve success or protect its license to operate.

As a public and government affairs intern, you will gain exposure to all aspects of the global public affairs landscape, including advocacy campaigns, stakeholder engagement, media communications, digital strategy, and policy analysis. You'll engage with trends in trade, technology, healthcare, advanced manufacturing, and other industries shaping the future. Your work will enhance your understanding of policy impacts on business and cultivate skills essential for a career in public affairs and strategic communications.
\n- Attend conferences, seminars, workshops, and other events virtually and in-person related to sector-specific economic, political, and trade matters, and provide concise reports on key insights and takeaways.
- Assist in preparing issue memos, briefs, and analysis documents to update clients and internal teams on relevant developments in the sector or market-specific landscape the team is focused on.
- Monitor news sources daily to identify pertinent news related to sector specific developments or economic, trade, geopolitical, and regulatory developments.
- Track and report on relevant congressional legislation related to the sector or industry developments and summarize for the team.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis on economic, trade, geopolitical, and regulatory issues that relate to business and client needs.
- Demonstrated interest in global affairs or in one of our priority sectors: tech, agriculture, sustainability, financial services, and market entry/exit.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to work within a team.
- Fluency in a foreign language (particularly Mandarin or Arabic) is preferred but not required.

- In order to be considered, you must be a rising senior having completed your junior year by the summer of 2025, a graduating senior, or a graduate school student with a focus in International Relations, Political Science, Communications, or a related program
- Interns are paid $21/ hour and are expected to work a full-time schedule (40 hours/ week)
- The internship is a 10-week program beginning on Monday, June 9, 2025 and ending on Friday, August 15, 2025
- The internship program will be hybrid—approximately 3 days/week in office
- This position must be based out of Edelman’s Washington, D.C, or New York offices
- Edelman does not provide any form of housing reimbursement
- Only students who are authorized to work in the United States will be considered
