Extended Service Year - School-Based Physical Therapy Assistant

Danvers Public Schools is seeking an Extended Service Year - School-Based Physical Therapy Assistant for the ESY program. This is a non-benefited, part-time seasonal position for the 2025 summer. This is a Monday-through-Thursday program, running from July 7, 2025, to August 7, 2025
Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join our team during the Extended School Year Program (ESY) for students with disabilities.
The PTA will work under the direct supervision of a licensed physical therapist to support students with disabilities or physical impairments in accessing their educational environment and participating in daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement individualized therapy plans (IEPs) to address specific physical and motor needs, focusing on enhancing students' functional skills and participation in daily school activities.
Provide direct one-on-one and group physical therapy sessions to students with physical disabilities or impairments.
Assist with therapeutic activities that improve fine and gross motor skills, mobility, posture, strength, and coordination, in alignment with academic and functional goals.
Provide support for students in the areas of mobility (e.g., using wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices), body positioning, and functional tasks such as transferring and self-care activities.
Track student progress toward therapy goals, adjusting intervention plans and exercises as needed under the guidance of the physical therapist.
