What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Technician position at Darigold Brand?
Darigold is seeking a Sanitation Utility at our Sunnyside, Washington location. This role with maintain hygiene standards in and around he production facility.
What You Will Do
- Production Area Sanitation: Clean floors, drains, and walls in production areas to maintain hygiene standards. Inventory sanitation items and maintain the chemical storage area (put barrels and totes where needed).
- Plant Cleanliness: Regularly monitor and maintain cleanliness throughout the plant.
- Equipment Cleaning: Assist in cleaning equipment using Clean-In-Place (CIP) procedures.
- Grounds: Cleans up the plant’s exterior, including trash pickup.
- Tool Organization: Maintain and organize cleaning tools such as mop buckets, brooms, and dust mops.
- Training Compliance: Successfully complete GMP and other quality control training courses.
- Forklift Operation: Pass Darigold forklift training and operate the forklift as needed.
- Other Duties as assigned.
What You Will Bring
- Must be able to stand/walk for 12 hours
- Must be able to confidently traverse concrete and tile floors that may intermittently be wet with milk, water, or sanitation products.
- Must be able to move chemical drums of up to 500 lbs. with a handcart.
- Must be able to climb up and down stairs both expanded metal, catwalk, and surfaced
- Must be able to wear PPE, including a hard hat, safety glasses, rubber steel-toed boots, hearing protection, nitrile gloves, and cotton coveralls for the entire duration of the shift Rain gear during CIP
- Must be able to wear full-length cotton/ polyester pants and nylon/polyester shirt uniform for the duration of the shift.
- Strong visual acuity, with or without corrective lens, allowing for the ability to verify small printing on the packaging for quality control and inventory management practices as well as perform tit
- Must be able to operate powered and unpowered pallet jackets for the movement of pallets into position and filled pallets out into the warehouse
- Must be capable of gaining forklift operator certification and safely operating a forklift in tight quarters
- Must be manually dexterous enough to handle and use a utility safety knife, open small plastic bottles, hold and use eye dropper, and write legibly
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds frequently, between floor level and chest level and above shoulder height
- Ability to organize and analyze process problems
- Strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to read and follow directions
- Must be able to perform basic math accurately
- Must be able to monitor and inspect products and equipment
- Computer experience
- Must be able to follow instructions with minimal supervision
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Processes

Work Schedule & Pay
- Plant Operates 12/7
- 12 hour Shifts - 3 days one week and 4 days the next week, rotate from days to night and back, every six weeks
- Starting pay is $20.08/hr, to $25.10/hr, with a $0.75/hr differential for the night shift
