About the Role :
We're looking for an experienced Lead Product Designer to create exceptional user experiences for clinical and commercial applications for the Life Science & Biotech industries, and to help shape the future of our product organization. This is a high-impact position for someone who succeeds at the intersection of craft, collaboration, and innovation. In this player / coach role, you will guide and inspire others, drive complex projects, and elevate the standard of design excellence across the organization.
Reporting to a Product Design Manager, you'll collaborate with colleagues to design UI components, interactive prototypes, and production-ready assets, and influence our design culture. Important to your success in this role will be mentoring other designers through mastery of craft, knowledge of best practices, and the ability to frame product needs into design problems. You will set the bar for design quality, guiding and approving the work of designers and writers across the team while modeling transparency, inclusivity, and adaptability.
We're looking for a Lead who's accomplished at navigating ambiguity, balancing strategic vision with design execution, and shaping solutions with impact. Responsibilities : Create and maintain user-interface elements, components and patterns, produce interactive prototypes and assets to be used in production, design presentations, and marketing collateral. You will iterate on design solutions as well as work with other designers to finalize solutionsFacilitate and participate in user research, cross-functional workshops, and design experiments, and translate insights into relevant design requirementsWork closely with partners and represent the design perspective in cross-functional discussions to ensure the voice of the customer and design strategy are embedded in decision-makingAlign team efforts with organizational goals and communicate a compelling product visionUse Figma and other standard design tools to deliver design artifacts such as user journey maps, service blueprints, and accessible, modular designsActively stay current with best practices, trends, and patterns for consumer and enterprise applicationsQualifications :
Proven track record of solving complex design challenges by translating business and functional requirements into innovative, impactful solutionsStrong ability to integrate research and data into your design process and a deep understanding of continuous discovery methodologiesAdvanced public speaking, presentation, and facilitation skillsExperience designing and implementing pixel-perfect components for design systems and high fidelity prototypes, particularly for enterprise SaaS applicationsExperience aligning partners and executive leaders to achieve a strategic vision through storytelling, persuasion, and a human-centered approachExperience guiding and coaching junior and mid-level designers, promoting a culture of growth and learningCan balance high-level strategic planning, connecting team efforts to organizational goals and broader ecosystem opportunitiesExperience influencing product strategies, driving innovation in ambiguous spaces, and problem-framing with an innovative approachExperience working with international or multilingual partners, products, and usersExperience designing for Generative AI, machine learning, or other emerging technologiesEducation & Experience :
8 years of experience designing on a UX team at an enterprise-level SaaS organization or similar experienceBachelor or Master's degree in Human Factors, User Experience Design, HCI, Information Science, or related discipline

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $135,000-180,000
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $141,750-189,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the Boston Metro Area is $132,750-177,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in Texas or Ohio is $118,500-158,000.
The salary range for positions that will be physically based in all other locations within the United States is $127,750-161,000.
Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
