The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) seek a talented Archivist and Digital Asset Specialist to apply best practices and methodologies to the NSDAR Archives, our Americana Collection, and other archival collections within its purview.
The Archives, located in the NSDAR's Washington, DC, headquarters, serves as the repository for NSDAR institutional records and the Americana Collection, which offers more than 4,000 diverse American imprints and manuscripts.
The focus of the Americana Collection is on Colonial America, the Revolutionary War era, and the early Republic, but the breadth of the collection spans five centuries. The NSDAR Archives houses the non-current permanent records created in the course of business by the organization.
The professional in this role will implement methods for processing, preserving, and providing access to analog, digitized, and born-digital records. This methodology will include surveying, arranging, rehousing, indexing, describing , and preparing finding aids for staff, members, and researchers.
To best serve researchers unable to visit the Archives in person, the NSDAR has made continuous efforts to add digitized materials online. This position will continue to support ongoing digitization efforts by preparing and adding digital content for online outreach, as well as provide hands-on-research services to others.
There will also be the opportunity to work with other staff members to create exhibits related to the NSDAR and using materials from the Archives.

Required Qualifications:
- B.A. in history, American Studies or related field is required.
- M.A. in History or M.L.S. or M.L.I.S. is required.
- Applicants must have graduate school coursework in Archival Studies and/or equivalent knowledge gained through prior professional experience or graduate or post-graduate school practicum or internship.
- One year of work experience in an archival setting with digital projects either as an intern or an employee is required.
- 3 or more years of previous archival/manuscript work experience with digital projects is preferred.
- Digital Archives Specialist Certificate is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic preservation techniques (primarily paper preservation techniques) is required.
- Knowledge of workflows to process, preserve, and provide access to digital records.
- Knowledge of metadata standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and collections management databases such as Re: Discovery Proficio.
Perks and Pay:
- Hiring annual salary range in the mid $55,000 to $68,000, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience.
- This position can be considered for hybrid remote work-after onboarding and training.
