Job Summary: The General Accounting Assistant will be as needed position providing support to the accounting department by performing various financial and administrative tasks. Specific support for the accounts payable and accounts receivable teams with daily workload and special projects as assigned.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily workload for Accounts Payable to ensure vendor invoices are paid in accordance with company policies.
- Assist with the daily collection communications including primarily with phone calls, emails and letters for customers (incoming and outgoing).
- Support collection efforts of past due balances on assigned customer accounts or channels, including reconciliation of accounts and write off of uncollectible balances.
- Assist other team members thru data entry of invoices in job cost database, month end close journal entries and maintain spreadsheets.
- Account maintenance (which may include updating address and contact information, request updated credit applications, request modification of credit limit and keeping notes of activity in the company’s ERP system).
- Responsible for other duties and projects as assigned.
- Back up for daily credit card reconciliation and lock box deposits.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Certifications: High school diploma required / some college preferred
Experience: Accounting experience and/or experience with churches or bookstores preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Accounting Knowledge or coursework work preferred.
- Will work with JD Edwards program.
- Comply with company policies, rules, and procedures.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of products, processes, finances, and other proprietary information.
- Ability to operate a computer, typical office equipment and use associated software, (Windows, Word, Excel) required.
- Ability to complete tasks on time, prioritize work, and solve problems.
- Ability to effectively communicate with others (in person, by phone, verbally and in writing).
Physical Requirements, Working Conditions:
- Ability to listen, read and comprehend instructions, both verbal and written.
- Ability to learn, understand, retain, and incorporate information.
- Must have some mobility in and around the facility and offsite locations.
- Must be able to lift, push and pull objects and reach, bend, and stoop.
- Working Environment – cubicle office and co-working spaces with some noise.
- Detail-oriented work requiring mental acuity and accuracy.
- Temporary/As-Needed Position – Must have a willingness and flexibility to work.
