Local Full-Time position, NO per diem
General Statement of Duties
To ensure the effectiveness of the contractor's company and LKE safety programs and initiatives within assigned areas by demonstrating and applying knowledge of health and safety laws, rules, regulations and general safety fundamentals.
General Expectations
- Will be knowledgeable of and follow all safety rules, procedures and practices.
- Will, when directed by supervision, report to assigned locations for the purpose of receiving training and will actively participate in the training activities.
- Will carry out assignments in training for and/or performing fire response and first aid.
- Will, during the normal performance of his duties, watch for and promptly report to supervision any damaged or defective equipment or conditions which may cause damage or injury.
- Will keep all equipment, tools, materials and work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
- Will report as directed to any facility for any shift where needed.
- Will perform work in a responsible and cooperative manner to facilitate a positive working environment
- Will compile information and generate reports, forms and documents as required.
Specific Expectations
At a minimum, contractor is expected to:
- Work with LKE management/safety professionals to integrate implement and assess ongoing effectiveness of various safety and industrial hygiene programs.
- Enforce compliance of all contractor/LKE safety guidance, OSHA and other applicable policies.
- Lead investigations of accidents and near-misses; recommend mitigation plans as applicable
- Continually visit different portions of the work sit to assess and correct job inefficiencies and any unsafe situations or work practices.
- Lead safety initiatives with employees
General Qualifications
- Must be willing to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.
- Able to work shift schedule.
Specific Qualifications
- Must be observant and have normal color vision acuity in addition to being able to detect abnormal operations through sight, sound, and smell
- Must have knowledge of power plant operations and of Lock out/Tag out systems
- Three or more years' experience in industrial safety preferred
- Certification in relevant fields such as industrial hygiene (CIH) or safety (CSP) preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Able to read, write and speak English proficiently
- Able to tolerate frequent standing and walking; climbing and working in adverse physical conditions (i.e., heights, enclosed spaces, heat, cold, etc.) may be occasionally required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $43.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
