SUMMARY:
- Installs new hardware and software and maintains computers and related equipment in operating condition by performing the following duties.
REPORTS TO:
- Technology Coordinator
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Troubleshoots problems on and maintains desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, iPads, MacBooks, Apple TVs, projectors, interactive panels and other related equipment, cables, and software.
- Able to remove and reinstall components (i.e., hard drives, memory, and other locally serviceable or replaceable items) in computers, printers, and other electronic devices used in the district.
- Assembles newly purchased equipment for classrooms.
- Works submitted tickets from classrooms to resolve issues both with software and hardware.
- Images Windows desktops, Windows laptops, macOS/iOS/tvOS devices and Chrome OS devices as required.
- Transports retired equipment for recycle and maintains inventory of the equipment transported.
- Helps delivers items to schools.
- May be asked to run a daily route between our facilities during peak seasons of the school year to transport devices to and from the district office.
- Assists Advanced Technician(s) in the maintenance and operation of file servers and related equipment.
- Installs and assists Network Specialist to maintain network infrastructure.
- Assists the Systems & Security Specialist in securing endpoints with antivirus software.
- Assists in group/team efforts to enroll and distribute new devices.
- Supports teachers and staff in schools through effective communication and quick response to technical problems via ticketing system and/or email and/or in person.
- Answers telephone and gives information to callers or routes call to other team members.
- Willing to learn and grow in experience and knowledge by training under advanced team members as time allows.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High school graduate with some post-secondary computer training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Two years of experience as a computer/electronics technician preferred. Completion of a formal computer networking and operations training program or completion of a technical certificate preferred. Repair and maintenance experience working on Windows, macOS, Chrome OS, iOS or similar operating systems.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with the technology team. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other technicians, administrators, teachers, and other employees of the board. Ability to work with users.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Experience with spreadsheet organization and functions preferred.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to discover and resolve computer system, network, or operating problems.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Valid Alabama Driver's License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; climb ladders; climb stairs; operate a computer; carry objects weighing between one and fifty pounds and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
The employee may move from one facility to another to resolve operating problems.
The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions for short periods of time.

Outside the state of Alabama, we must have a letter (on school district letterhead) or public school district form showing beginning and ending dates stating your years of service and position held while employed
Credit is awarded for public school experience only, private, parochial, or similar experience will not be accepted
Experience must be full time at least 50%-100% of the academic year
Administrative credit will be awarded only for experience in the same position, i.e., principal for principal position as stated in the salary schedule
Transfer Sick Leave: If you have sick leave from another state school system or from another state of Alabama agency, you must have a Sick Leave Transfer form sent from your previous employer to our Human Resources department
