Certified Lifeguard - Deerwood Country Club

Job Summary: Our Lifeguards ensure the safety and well-being of all members and guests using our aquatic facilities. Primary responsibilities include monitoring swimming areas, enforcing safety rules, and providing immediate assistance in emergencies. They also maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool area, conduct regular safety checks, and assist with poolside activities and events.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Perform opening and closing duties.
• Interact with members, guests, and co-workers in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor at all times.
• Learn and address members by their last name.
• Monitor pool activities and ensure the safety of all swimmers.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations.
• Enforce pool policies regarding proper attire.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, providing first aid and CPR as needed.
• Conduct regular safety inspections of pool equipment and facilities.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pool by vacuuming pool bottom and skimming for debris.
• Inspect locker rooms, and restrooms throughout the shift to ensure cleanliness.
• Assist with poolside events and activities.
• Attend departmental meetings.
• Provide excellent customer service to members and guests.
• Handle complaints effectively and inform the Director of Fitness and Aquatics promptly.
• Follow safety guidelines in compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
• Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Current lifeguard certification.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certified.
• Previous lifeguard experience.
• Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends and holidays

Deerwood Country Club is a private equity country club in Jacksonville founded in 1960.
