JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: General Billing Clerk
Organization: Patient Billing Services
Pay Scale: General Billing Clerk Pay Scale
Classifications: Non-Exempt
Empowerment: The General Billing Clerk reports to the Billing Office Manager. The General Billing Clerk is responsible for the processing of all incoming billing paperwork.
Education Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D. minimum. Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) certification from the National Academy of Ambulance Compliance within one year of hire. FEMA 100, 200, 700 and 800 along with a HAZMAT training class.
Experience Requirements: Typing of at least 35 w.p.m. One year of general office work.
Primary Responsibilities: Perform various support functions to provide ticket batch processing and entry processing for day-to-day operations. Work is performed without appreciable direction in order to accomplish management’s directives. Must be skillful in language, including vocabulary, usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation, so as to perform above functions with a high degree of accuracy. Employ creativity to solve problems. Contact outside sources to ensure proper information is input into the correct programs. Answer billing questions called in by clients. Print insurance forms to be mailed out. Pull and copy remittances to be attached to H.C.F.A. forms. Print statements for mailing. Assist with the validation of primary Medicaid rejections. Make corrections in the Medicaid rejections for re-sending. Conducts him/herself in a highly ethical and professional manner at all times. Complete all other duties as assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, Director of Finance, and/or on-duty Field Operations Supervisor.

Technology Tool Capabilities: The successful General Billing Clerk will be able to use the following technology tools: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Internet Search Engines, Billing
Software, Medicare, Medicaid and other electronic billing software, scanners, computer, fax machines and printers.
