Human Resources (HR) Associate

We are a growing food distribution company serving markets, restaurants, and distributors across Southern California. As we restructure our HR policies, employee handbook, PTO policies, and overall company culture, we are looking for an experienced HR Associate to play a key role in building a strong, compliant, and employee-friendly workplace. 

This roles requires HR expertise, payroll processing skills, and knowledge of California labor laws. The selected candidate will work directly with the General Manager to ensure smooth operations and foster a positive and professional work environment. 

Responsibilities

• Payroll management: Process weekly payroll accurately and on time. 
• Compliance & Documentation: Ensure full compliance with California labor laws and maintain accurate employee records. 
• Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, conflicts, and HR-related matters professionally. 
• HR Policy Development: Assist in updating and restructuring the employee handbook, policies, and training processes. 
• Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Support recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new employees.
• Culture Development: Collaborate with management to foster a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture. 

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of HR experience (required). 
• Strong knowledge of California employment laws (required). 
• Payroll processing experience. 
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills to work with a diverse team. 
• HR certification is a plus but not required. 
• Bilingual (English and Spanish).
