Objectives

Individual is a Deputy Auditor who is responsible for maintaining payroll records for all employees of Delaware County, following federal, state and local tax codes as well as other governmental and agency guidelines. .

Job Standards

  • Associates Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience related work experience.

Essential Functions

  • Report to Payroll Director.
  • Ensures that proper internal accounting controls are followed to protect the county’s assets;
  • Process an accurate bi-weekly payroll check to all employees, ensuring that all federal, state and local taxes, deductions, garnishments and voluntary contributions are withheld from individual paychecks;
  • Assign and advise department’s regarding position control numbers, position numbers and job codes;
  • Set up and maintain employee payroll records;
  • Maintain accurate sick, vacation and comp time leave balances;
  • Provide technical assistance, training and information to departments and agency fiscal personnel and managers;
  • Test and verify the accuracy of the new payroll software versus the current system;
  • Maintain documentation of business practices and procedures;
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure the proper pay rates and individual payroll changes are entered and accurate;
  • Prepare and file timely and accurate payroll reports and/or payments to unions, government agencies, insurance carriers, PERS and other proper entities;
  • Reconcile payroll postings to accounting records; and
  • Process timely and accurate end-of-year forms.
