Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise various transit operations departments like bus dispatching, maintenance, driver scheduling, and customer service.
- Monitor service performance, identify operational issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain on-time performance and service reliability.
- Oversee the implementation of new transit routes, schedules, and service adjustments based on ridership data and community needs.
- Collaborate with the Transit Director in developing long-term strategic plans for the transit system, including capital improvement projects, fleet expansion, and service area expansion.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for potential new transit initiatives.
- Analyze ridership trends and data to inform service planning decisions.
- Develop and manage operational budgets for assigned transit departments, including personnel costs, vehicle maintenance, and fuel expenses.
- Monitor budget performance and identify areas for cost optimization.
- Lead and manage a team of supervisors and managers within the transit operations department.
- Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Address employee concerns and resolve workplace issues.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding transit operations, including safety standards and accessibility requirements.
- Investigate safety incidents, implement corrective actions, and promote a safety-first culture within the transit agency.
- Collaborate with community stakeholders to gather feedback on transit services and address concerns.
- Represent the transit agency at public meetings and community events to promote transit ridership.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, public administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in public transit operations management, including service planning, scheduling, and dispatching.
