Job Responsibilities
As a Staff Accountant you will apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports.
Your specific duties in this role will include:
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts
• Prepare various financial statements, including Profit & Loss
• Maintain fixed asset records
• Assist with bank statement reconciliation
• Monitor inventory levels and advise management of variances
• Review expenditures in accordance with budgets
• Prepare and monitor daily Income Journal entries
• Assist in preparation of year-end audit schedules for independent auditors
• Respond to hotel requests and inquiries with appropriate level of sensitivity and immediacy while upholding business goals.
• Assist with NYS Sales & Use Tax and Hotel Occupancy tax filings
Job Requirements
We are looking for a self-motivated Staff Accountant with a strong work ethic and a drive to exceed expectations. It is also important that you have excellent communication skills.
Specific qualifications for the role include:
• 3 to 5 years’ experience in accounting
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Sage 300 (Accpac) Accounting software and ProfitSword Hotel software preferred
• Experience importing and exporting data between business applications a plus.
• Solid organizational, time-management and prioritization skills
• Exceptional customer service skills
