Important note - we are seeking a woman or woman-identifying individual for this position. Living and sleeping at the facility is required.
The House Director fosters and maintains a safe and productive environment for 21 collegiate members of a sorority at the University of Utah, through oversight of the household employees, coordination of routine maintenance, and day to day management of the facility. The House Director works in conjunction with the House Board and collegiate chapter officers including the Facilities Director to problem solve and provide feedback.

- Lodging included on site: Furnished 1 bedroom, 1 bath suite with private sitting room/ office. The House Director is required to sleep on site when the house is open or when school is in session, with the exception of certain University holidays when the house is closed, and one night during initiation (up to two times per year). Our sorority has a national policy that no alcohol or drugs are allowed on the property. This applies to the House Director quarters and parking space.

- Reserved, off-street parking space
- Paid personal days negotiable. Time off includes the summer and when the house is closed to residents.
- Health insurance stipend (we will reimburse portion of personally purchased insurance up to $500 per month)
- Cell phone stipend up to $75 per month
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Observe Fraternity and House Board housing policies and chapter house rules. It is the expectation that employees honor all Bylaws, Standing Rules and Policies.
- Lives on site throughout the term of employment as defined by the House Director Contract, specifically, but not limited to, sleeping nightly at the house.
- Promotes and fosters safe and positive living standards for college age residents while communicating the boundaries of the facility.
- Ordering/ purchasing food and snacks for the facility.
- Regular communication/ meetings with Facilities Director, house residents, and House Board.
- Coordinates day to day facility management, including small repairs and regular maintenance by contacting and supervising providers and technicians.
- Supervising house staff including housekeeping/cleaning staff, and managing kitchen staff.
- Supports the chef/cook with meal planning, purchasing, and food budgeting, ensuring that appropriate meals are prepared/provided for members while working within budget.
- Communicating with student leader positions such as the Facilities Director and President regarding implementation of house chores, special event logistics and house check-in and check-out.
- Serving as a hostess at occasional sorority events and modeling and educating the members on etiquette and gracious living.
- Communicating budget activity to the House Board
- Sorting mail, laundering household items like kitchen linens, aprons, etc.
- Demonstrates the ability to lift objects of at least 25 pounds, as well as to bend, kneel, and walk up and down stairs easily.
- Other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the House Board.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills with a positive solution-focused attitude.
- Ability to comfortably use technology including a laptop (provided) and smartphone. Use apps for communication, receipt tracking, payroll, basic bookkeeping, and online ordering, as well as basic to intermediate functions of Microsoft Word and Excel or Google Docs and Sheets.
- Ability to scan and email documents to the House Board.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidential information.
- Professional and diplomatic relations with students, parents, alumni, service providers, and community resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly with college age members, including patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor.
- Current driver’s license and ability to drive with personal vehicle for errands related to the job. Applicants will need their own vehicle.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
