Overview
The Recovery Advocate plays a vital role in implementing DeNovo Recovery rules and programs and supporting individuals on their journey to recovery. This position involves working closely with clients to provide direct care support. The Recovery Advocate is dedicated to fostering a safe and nurturing environment that promotes independence and enhances the quality of life for those in care.
About DeNovo Recovery: We are a substance abuse healthcare provider. Our mission is to save lives! We offer Residential Treatment, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Out-Patient Treatment.
Requirements:
- Valid Drivers License
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 1 year healthcare technician experience (preferred)
Shift: Monday & Tuesday 7:00AM-3:00PM; Wednesday 12:30pm-8:30pm; Friday 7:00am-3:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Assists in creating and maintaining a therapeutic environment for substance abuse clients.
- Maintains adequate security for eating/sleeping problems, elopements or attempts to elope.
- Monitors clients’ movement and provides a client count as per facility policy.
- Implement behavior management techniques to encourage positive behaviors and reduce instances of crisis.
- Assist clients with medication observation as needed, ensuring adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive function and social interaction.
- Accompanies clients to NA/AA meetings in the community, recreational activities, field trips and other outings to ensure safety, provide therapeutic assistance, and help prevent elopement. Institutes appropriate security measures escorting clients inside and outside facility.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client progress and any changes in behavior or condition.
- Prepare meals for clients as scheduled.
- Assists with client admissions, including orientation to rules and rights, bed/closet assignments, issuing linens, and inventory of personal items as needed.
- Assists with transfer and discharge procedures. Performs any related duties assigned including disinfecting bed, inventory of personal items, and ensuring all property is returned.
- Ensure a safe environment by adhering to all health and safety regulations within nursing homes or personal care homes.
Skills
- Strong background in behavior management techniques relevant to individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care.
- Knowledge of ethical boundaries between provider and clients
- Proficient in medication administration practices and protocols.
- Excellent caregiving skills with a focus on personal care needs of individuals.
