We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Anesthesia Assistant to support our efforts to provide safe, effective and compassionate anesthesia care in various office locations on Long Island and, where possible, the NY Tri-State region. We are a growing, mobile, office-based anesthesia practice specializing in the provision of anesthesia care for adults, children and special need populations requiring dental services. Your work environment will always include a Dentist Anesthesiologist as well as the office dental team. Your role will be to provide support directly to the anesthesiologist who is continuously present during patient care.
We are seeking individuals with prior experiences in direct patient care, such as a Paramedic, EMTs, and Nurses. Experience with IV placement, airway management training, and patient monitoring is preferred and attention to detail in patient monitoring and medical charting is a priority. Prior anesthesia, emergency medicine or ICU experience is preferred but NOT required since we will provide extensive training in your assigned roles which will include patient/family interviews, charting as well as supply and equipment handling.
You will work closely with anesthesiologists, dentists and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional and comprehensive anesthesia care to patients. Providing care in the numerous office and clinical environments in which we practice can be both unique and enjoyable.
We are seeking several individuals willing to work 1-3 days per week. The position offers hourly pay up to $45 per hour depending on prior experience. Typical hours include starting times of 6:00 7:00 am which commonly conclude from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm, all depending on the number of patients scheduled for treatment.
Certifications required include: Current BLS and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) is strongly preferred but not required.
Roles and Duties include:
1. Patient / Parent Interviews. Complete pre-procedural interviews with patients and/or their parent/guardian to obtain required and relevant history.
2. Assist anesthesiologist with perioperative patient care including induction, maintenance and emergence from an anesthetic which includes IV placement and airway management.
3. Medical Charting. Accurate documentation of patient status during procedures.
4. Assistance with equipment loading and unloading from office locations.
5. Assist with treatment room turnover before and after patient care including equipment care and cleaning as well as breakdown for office departure.
6. Post-Anesthesia Care: Assist in monitoring patients during recovery and provide post-procedure care instructions.
7. Compliance with HIPPA and Infection Control standards.
