Under the close supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), in the Accounting Services Branch (ASB), the Student Assistant (SA) is in a learning role to assist with the administrative duties required by the department. The SA will support the ASB, including researching and analyzing data related to fiscal operations, providing technical support for accounting business needs, and performing clerical accounting tasks. Additionally, the SA will review, research, and process various types of invoices such as reimbursement, lease, and advance invoices from private vendors and other state agencies. The SA will also effectively communicate the progress of assigned tasks while working within a team environment and follow written and oral instructions.
The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
The Student Assistant classification is a non-testing classification.

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Daily use of a computer, office equipment, and/or telephone. Standard office environment. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments.

Desirable Qualifications
