The Department of Justice is seeking an experienced and skilled Supervisor to join our Public Affairs team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising a group of public affairs specialists, providing guidance and support to enhance their performance and productivity.
Responsibilities:
• Directly supervise a team of public affairs specialists, providing mentorship and evaluation to ensure they meet job requirements.
• Oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive public outreach, educational, and media affairs programs.
• Collaborate with senior officials to develop and execute strategic communications plans that address complex public affairs issues.
• Manage responses to national and local media inquiries, ensuring timely handling and accuracy of information.
• Plan and oversee all phases of OJP publication production, including editing and rewriting material before publication.
• Ensure the Media Affairs team prioritizes building strong relationships with reporters and delivering a positive experience by providing timely and accurate information.
Education and Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.
• At least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level.
• Demonstrated experience in managing public relations programs involving controversial issues or issues of significant public or Congressional interest.
• Proven ability to lead or supervise teams, as well as communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Possession of excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
