STAFF PARK AND RECREATION SPECIALIST - OFF-HIGHWAY MOTOR VEHICLE RECREATION DIVISION / GRANTS AND COOPERATIVE AGREEMENTS PROGRAM / COMPLIANCE UNIT / HEADQUARTERS

The reporting location for this position is Headquarters located in Sacramento, CA. This position will work under the general direction of the Senior Park and Recreation Specialist (Snr. PRS).

The Staff Park and Recreation Specialist (Staff PRS) will serve as the Direct Supervisor of the Grant Compliance Unit. The position will be part of the overall management of the OHMVR Divisions Grants programs; oversee regulatory compliance with a variety of land-use policies; and work on special projects regarding issues affecting OHV recreation.

The OHMVR program is charged to provide high quality OHV recreation, and to ensure that resource values are protected and lands are managed in a sustainable fashion. Incumbent may be required to travel to the SVRA's and on-going training, therefore a valid Class C license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. This position is designated as telework eligible-remote centered.

Working Conditions

  • Work environment may have moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, elevations, dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
  • Occasional to frequent work outside of office, in a field environment.
  • Work in a range of climatic environments from hot, dry deserts, coastal beaches, cool forests, and mountainous areas.
  • May be exposed to extreme weather and traffic conditions.
  • Operate and navigate 4x4 vehicles, ATVs, ROV/UTVs or motorcycles in remote park locations.
  • Walking or hiking into remote areas of parks and public lands with a wide range of terrain.

  • Transfer Eligibility – Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).

  • Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
