Title: Sr. Payroll Specialist
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Status: Full Time, Exempt
Job Summary
The Sr. Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing all aspects of payroll processing and payroll tax operations to ensure timely, accurate, compliant payroll operations, and to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. In addition, they will manage reporting, audits, and employee inquiries while providing quality service to all customers..
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's payroll system, including payroll data, spreadsheets, documentation and payroll processes to prepare, review, and process bi-weekly payroll
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, as well as company policies and procedures
- Enter employee data into payroll and HRIS databases accurately and timely
- Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions
- Verify hours worked, paid time off, deductions, and pay adjustments
- Act as internal point-of-contact for employees regarding payroll procedures and inquiries
- Process wage garnishment documentation and withholding and employment verifications promptly
- Ensure all required payroll and tax filings are completed timely and accurately (weekly, monthly quarterly, annually)
- Maintain records of payroll tax liabilities
- Complete year-end and W2 balancing and processing
- Partner with HR on company benefits and file uploads and audit and reconcile health insurance, HSA, and 401k accounts (weekly, monthly quarterly, annually)
- Work closely with the senior leadership team to prepare requested reports
- Oversee year-end audits and renewals, ensuring compliance
- Provide advanced problem-solving and research on transaction-related discrepancies, issues, and audit findings, and communicate results to appropriate people
- Work closely with vendors, HR, timekeepers, and managers to ascertain the accuracy of the data submitted and reconcile differences when applicable
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality by understanding privacy laws, company policy, and legal and ethical requirements
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned

Requirements
Only qualified candidates meeting all requirements will be contacted to interview
- Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of payroll and payroll tax processing experience
- Prior experience with Paylocity preferred
- Knowledge of FLSA, payroll laws, and regulations required
- Must be knowledgeable on wage withholding orders (garnishments, child support, levies, etc.)
- Advanced skills/experience in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word and MS Excel are required to analyze data
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple priorities, deliver a high level of accuracy, and possess excellent time management skills while meeting deadlines
- Customer-focused with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, including executives, and demonstrate strong relationship-building skills
