The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is hiring! Join us in preserving what people care about most – access to the outdoors, natural habitats, open spaces, clean water, and safe infrastructure.
The Office of Human Resources is looking for an HR Assistant to with assist with HR projects and initiatives, general HR administrative tasks and support, records management, and assistance with the recruitment process. The Human Resources Assistant serves as a cross functional supporting member of the HR team.
Specifically, this position will:
- Support special projects and cross-functional HR Initiatives; specifically providing assistance in transitioning to the Enhanced Executive Branch Performance Review System to include creating positions descriptions.
- Assist with managing centralized HR files in accordance with records maintenance policies and guidelines, to include filing, photocopying, and organization of confidential records.
- Provide temporary or as-needed assistance to the HR Transactions team, preparing and processing HR transactions in HRIS systems.
- Provide support in benefits function by providing employees documents as requested, and keying changes into the HRIS, if necessary.
- Provide assistance in ensuring recruitment files are closed out and maintained appropriately with all documents needed.
- Respond to external and internal requests for information and provides technical assistance regarding assigned HR areas.
- Assist as needed with HR compliance-related processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in customer service and administrative support working with diverse staff, clients, and stakeholders.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, discretion, prioritization, time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate level proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Demonstrated organizational skills for effectively managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience exercising independent judgement and while maintaining high level of confidentiality.
- Ability and willingness to be flexible with varied work assignments.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Additional Considerations
- Human Resources experience in a fast-paced office environment
- General knowledge of human resources programs, regulations and guidelines.
- Working knowledge of and/or experience with State HRIS (Cardinal, PageUp, etc.)
