Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Corrections enhances public safety by providing effective programming and supervising sentenced inmates in a humane, cost-efficient manner, consistent with sound correctional principles and constitutional standards.

Coordinates and provides a variety of organized, effective and efficient administrative &
logistical support services to the Deputy Director and staff of the Reentry & Programs Unit by conducting research, preparing, reports, processing/routing information requests, and handling special projects. Ensures all office functions are carried out with attention to detail and exceptional levels of responsiveness, confidentiality, and customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Previous experience providing office oversight, customer service, and executive level support in a professional setting with a high degree of confidentiality. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and office equipment. Demonstrated organizational skills. Demonstrated skill in written and oral communications. Ability to manage multiple and varied projects in unison and make judgments about work priorities, evaluate options and
implement solutions that make sense and are efficient. Ability to work independently and maintain effective working relationships with other people. High school diploma or equivalent.

Additional Considerations

Demonstrated ability to compose professional correspondence and reports. Demonstrated skill in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google, and PowerPoint. Prefer working knowledge of correctional operations.
