Duties and responsibilities:
This position will:
- Promote the Division of Labor and Employment Law through face-to-face engagements and marketing efforts.
- Develop creative ways to reach new employers and drive innovative approaches in the Division of Labor and Employment Law communication and outreach.
- Attend events for networking and prospecting new employer contacts.
- Conduct market research to determine new employer sectors to target.
- Prepare and implement an annual outreach and engagement plan that increases interest, participation, and use of the Division of Labor and Employment Law.
- Deliverables will include comprehensive listing of businesses, associations, industry leaders contacted and the recorded outcome and all relevant contact information.
Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with marketing, implementing market strategies, or a related field.
- Ability to research labor market information, including employer demographics and ability to create the contact network is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking.
- Ability to create and manage events of stakeholders and deliver and/or coordinate presentations, or in the alternate.
- Ability to secure presentation opportunities at conferences, workshops, forums targeting the designated industries/sectors.
- Ability to interact professionally with government and private sector employers/employees, the general public, and department personnel in a courteous manner.
Additional Considerations
- Knowledge of Federal and State laws governing Labor and Employment and Child Labor.
- Certification (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience) in the area of marketing, sales, business, or a related field.
- Verifiable fluency speaking, reading, and writing Spanish.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to travel overnight.
- Possession or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Must meet minimum duty requirements for the position as measured by the Agency’s Physical/Cognitive Checklist.
- Ability to perform moderate physical activity that includes, but is not limited to climbing stairs and ladders, bending, walking up and down inclines, occasionally lifting and carrying loads up to 30 pounds, etc.
- The selected candidate must successfully pass a criminal background investigation, and successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original hire or re-employment.
Special Instructions:
The maximum hiring salary range for the Labor Law Marketing and Outreach Specialist is $53,315 - $65,000 annually, plus the State’s benefits package. Please note that salary is only negotiable within the advertised salary range.
