Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
MOHS Medical Assistant's assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Essential Functions
- Performs all of the processes to prepare tissue samples (Mohs and frozen sections) for diagnostic evaluation ensuring that all regulations are met and that all productivity and quality standards are met or surpassed.
- Monitors all quality control and quality assurance documentation and reports any variances up to the Histology Manager.
- Monitors collection and pick-up of hazardous waste and forwards all documentation to the Histology Manager.
- Maintains all equipment (cryostats, refrigerators, hoods) according to established protocols.
- Patient charting in an EMR system.
- Returning patient calls.
- Scribing visits for providers, dictating notes with providers.
- Logging and maintenance of paths and patient path call backs.
- Entering patient demographics and scheduling patients into practice management system.
- Managing patient charts for prescriptions, diagnosis, medical records, patient correspondence.
- Assist physician with all dermatological procedures.
- Instrument auto-clave duties.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to spend a great deal of the day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day.
