Your Role as a DSP: As a DSP, you will be a source of support, encouragement, and care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting individuals with daily living activities such as personal care, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Supporting individuals in developing life skills, including communication, socialization, and problem-solving.
- Facilitating participation in community activities, recreational programs, and social events.
- Providing transportation to appointments, social outings, and other activities as needed.
- Monitoring and documenting individual progress, behavior, and health status.
- Collaborating with healthcare professionals, families, and team members to implement individualized care plans.
- Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where each individual feels valued and respected.
- Advocating for the rights and dignity of individuals with developmental disabilities.
What We’re Looking For in a DSP:
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred but not required.
- A compassionate, patient, and empathetic attitude.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A team player who is eager to collaborate with a diverse group of professionals.
- The ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or a willingness to obtain).
