Description

Developmental Pathways (DP) has a new opportunity for a Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). We are seeking a highly strategic, results-oriented leader to join our executive team. This role will formulate and implement strategic initiatives that align with organizational mission, values, and key commitments. The CSO will successfully develop and execute related strategies, processes, and structures. This role will analyze systems, funding streams, and operational changes, as well as plans for associated impacts, including modifications to service or administration models. This role will also direct the Human Resources and Community Affairs functions while also overseeing other areas of compliance, including legal affairs, HIPPA, risk and safety, and organization-wide contract monitoring and execution. In addition, the CSO will be responsible for community engagement, active monitoring of industry-related legislative policy and/or initiatives, and for ensuring the organization has an ongoing, proactive voice in related public affairs.

Started in 1964, Developmental Pathways (DP) is a nonprofit agency serving more than 15,000 individuals with disabilities and their families in Arapahoe, Douglas, and Elbert counties. We are a designated Case Management Agency (CMA) for long-term care services and are one of Colorado’s Community Centered Boards (CCB), connecting people to federal, state, county, and private funding. We are also Colorado’s largest Early Intervention (EI) provider and help connect young children to essential resources, serving the City of Aurora in addition. Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the formulation and execution of the company’s strategic plan, aligning with the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives. 
  • Conducts research to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and threats. 
  • Fosters a culture of innovation by identifying enhancements to current operations and new business opportunities that maintain or grow profitability. 
  • Establishes key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategic initiatives. Ensures resources are aligned to effectively execute strategic priorities.
  • Initiates, plans, and directs project management related to growth and/or change initiatives.  
  • Responsible for proactive monitoring and compliance with county, state, and federal regulations and reporting requirements to include pending legislation. 

Leadership, Managerial and Supervisory 

  • Helps direct organizational planning, including workforce and succession planning. 
  • Champions leadership team effectiveness, collaboration, and core process improvement. 
  • Works to diagnose organization’s overall health, including morale, efficiency, and effectiveness, and helps to implement internal solutions to ensure sustainability. 
  • Monitors productivity and prioritizes work activities of supervised staff to ensure work/life balance. 
  • Manages and grows a team of professionals, leading and directing their execution of strategies in alignment with the organization’s strategic plan. 

Financial/Budgetary 

  • Collaborates closely with the CFO and other company leaders and BOD to develop and implement the organization’s financial strategy. 
  • Provides timely and accurate analyses of budgets, project proposals, and business trends in multiple areas to assist executive leadership, department directors, and others in performing their responsibilities. 
  • Supports executive leadership in their budgeting and spending efforts through strategic and operational planning guidance and troubleshooting. 

Communication and Coordination 

  • Coordinates and/or actively participates in providing data, input, and recommendations as needed with county, state, and federal agencies. 
  • Works to ensure external brand identity and communications are coherent, responsive, and integrated with organizational strategies. 
  • Works to educate, inform, and disseminate disability-related information on an ongoing basis. 
  • Proactively works to influence public policy and build/maintain a strong reputation.

Qualifications


Requirements

  • Advanced degree in human services, public administration, or business administration preferred.
    • Commensurate leadership or public policy experience, 10 years, is acceptable in lieu of an advanced degree.  
  • 10 years of knowledge of state disability programs, policy and funding issues and opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, inspire, direct, and supervise team members. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of disability services related state and federal systems.  
  • Thorough working knowledge of state and federal legislative processes. 
  • Demonstrated experience with: 
    • Research and analysis 
    • Project and budget management 
    • Strategic planning
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate at all organizational levels and across diverse external audiences. 
  • Creative self-starter: able to independently identify organizational opportunities, analyze potential strategies and solutions, and make sound decisions.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to quickly develop relationships with a diverse group of individuals. 
  • Excellent planning and time-management skills; able to effectively prioritize work. 
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries and effective interpersonal relationships with employees, supervisors, persons in services and their families, vendors, and others. 
  • Experienced in Windows operating system(s), Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
