Summary:
The ESP (Electrical Submersible Pump) Advisor will support the Diamondback technical ESP program by providing technical expertise and oversight to assist in the execution of various aspects of the program which may include the following: standard development, system design, field service, surveillance, DIFA/failure analysis, equipment/procedure specification, and inventory management.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate DIFA activities with ESP providers and involve third-party consultants as needed.
- Witness DIFA activities in ESP provider facilities and participate in failure mechanism as well as root cause identification.
- Review, interpret, and draw failure related conclusions from ESP operational and production data.
- Provide failure analysis summaries and data to production engineers in support of failure review process.
- Assist production engineers with ESP service call dispatch, troubleshooting, and coordination.
- Assist with the management and deployment of Company owned ESP inventory and assets.
- Assist production engineers with ESP design reviews and recommendations based on the application.
- Assist production engineer’s ESP surveillance reviews and troubleshooting.
- Participate in the development and revision of company ESP standards, guidelines, and procedures.
- Participate in ESP provider performance reviews and commercial term evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
- High School or equivalent
- Ten (10 ) years of oilfield experience
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Able to meet and maintain the clean driving insurability standard requirements to drive a company vehicle, which means a driving record that is clear of any of serious traffic violations within the past three (3) years. (Other driving record requirements may also apply.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the manufacturing, assembly, and testing of ESP parts, sub-assemblies, and system components.
- Working knowledge of general mechanical and electrical component design including elastomers, O-ring seals, mechanical face seals, coupling/splines, relief valves, hydrodynamic thrust bearings, threaded fasteners, electrical connectors, and soldered joints.
- Well-developed knowledge of centrifugal pump function, application, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to the ESP industry including casting, machining, coating, and component assembly.
- Knowledgeable in the scoping, design, selection, and specification of ESP systems.
- Detailed understanding of ESP field operations including transportation, assembly/installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and pulling.
- Experience with all forms of ESP variable speed drive setup, configuration, and control.
- Direct employee experience within both an ESP provider and Operating Company.
- Understanding of well/lease economic and performance drivers relevant to ESP operations.
- Familiarity with Permian horizontal unconventional well applications
