Position Summary:
- Assist Business Services in maintaining the district’s financial records in a manner as prescribed by the Texas Education Agency and as required by standard accounting principles
- Coordinate, analyze, and support daily operations for Business Services
- Coordinate training and supervision of District Computer Financial Accounting
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or a related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Proficient in accounting principles and practices
- Ability to implement District policy and procedures
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to be organized and produce accurate results while meeting established deadlines
- Demonstrate advanced skills in computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and data entry
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communications
- Office management skills
- Proficient in maintaining auditable file records according to guidelines and content
- Proficiency in the use of a ten-key calculator
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with all District employees and vendors
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously with frequent interruptions and without supervision
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience of accounting/payroll/auditing experience (preferred)
- Minimum of 2 years of the school-related environment (preferred)
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Keep the Executive Director of Payroll informed on the business affairs of the district
- Responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll in an accurate and timely manner by the input of relative data, verification of accuracy, and production of payroll checks in the Districts Financial Accounting System
- Responsible for interfacing the data between the AESOP, Employee Access Center, and PowerSchool systems
- Responsible for the administration of Talent Ed payroll workflow process
- Responsible for entering and balancing payroll disbursements for all employees in the Districts Financial Accounting System
- Distribute and file semi-monthly payroll in an accurate and timely manner
- Responsible for processing attendance and calculating substitutes pay, including long-term adjustments
- Communicate with governmental agencies and maintain deduction and payment records for child support, student loans, IRS levies, and bankruptcies
- Prepare and submit payroll reports and forms required by Internal Revenue Service, Texas Workforce Commission, Teacher Retirement System, and garnishments
- Assist with the administration of the District’s timekeeping software system
- Assist with preparing training of District computer Financial Accounting System and District procedures
- Respond to inquiries from employees and department/campuses on various aspects of payroll
- Maintain a continuous internal control for payroll
- Monitor department mail and email
- Perform District internal audits as needed
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Maintain an accurate track of hours worked through the District software
- Maintain professional, ethical use of District network resources
- Monitor and maintain the department filing system
- Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned
