Discovery Health Sciences Schools is currently seeking a full-time Human Resources Manager to join our growing team!
Discovery Schools opened their doors in Jefferson Parish in 2013 as a K-12 charter school created to give families choice in public education. Discovery has grown to a network of 3 schools with a Health Sciences mission. Across our four campuses in Kenner and Metairie and Baton Rouge our 400 teachers/staff serve over 3,000 students in Pre-K-12th grade. Discovery prides itself on its excellent academic record and strong school culture. The mission of Discovery Health Sciences Schools is to provide a rigorous learning environment where students achieve academically, develop intellectual curiosity, and practice environmental responsibility while exploring health and science topics and careers.

This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional to manage policies, procedures and programs that support teacher and student success. The HR Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of Human Resources.

Discovery Health Sciences Schools seeks an experienced Human Resources (HR) Manager to join our team. This is an ideal opportunity for an HR professional to manage policies, procedures and programs that support teacher and student success. The HR Manager reports directly to the Executive Director of Human Resources.
Responsibilities:
- Manage recruitment and talent management
- Develop strategies to attract and retain top talent
- Oversee onboarding and new hire orientation
- Support Executive Director of HR regarding employee relations
- Oversee benefits and compensation including teacher/staff stipends
- Manage the Guest Teacher (substitute) program
- Oversee compliance and policy management as it relates to employment law, employee handbook, audit and reporting
- Collaborate with leadership to align HR goals with the organization's mission and vision.
- Lead and mentor HR Assistants
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or Education preferred
- 5 years of Human Resources experience
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws and regulations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
- Experience with HRIS (Human Resources Information System) software
