This is a posting for anticipated vacancies.
Candidates processing a current NYS Certification in the appropriate subject area will be given preference. Pending certifications meeting the following conditions may be accepted:
- The appropriate NYS certification will be issued by September 1st
- A letter from the college stating the applicant is expected to have their certification by Sept 1st ♦OR♦ an unofficial transcript and exam results with a passing grade should be attached to the application.
Please note:
- This is an anticipated vacancy only. There may or may not be an available vacancy.
- Vacancies will be filled internally and then, if a vacancy is still available, external candidates will be considered.
- Internal placements and transfers will take place on or around April 30.
- All qualified external candidates will participate in the screening process which will be conducted during this posting.
- The screening process will include a short virtual interview with a director.
- Screening results will be communicated within 7-10 business days.
- Informational emails will be sent periodically to keep you informed of our progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current NYS certification in Physical Education
- Current NYS certification in Health
ESSENTIAL CORE CHARACTERISTICS:
- Possesses broad subject-area knowledge of physical education curriculum, skill-based teaching strategies and assessment
- Possesses strong communication skills to successfully build partnerships with parents, students, and colleagues
- Demonstrated evidence to work with students of all ability levels, differentiate instruction, and use a variety of teaching techniques
- Possesses strong, positive behavior management skills
- Demonstrated evidence of being highly organized
- Demonstrated flexibility in teaching situations.
- Possesses a sensitivity to non-academic student issues.
- Demonstrated proficiency in meeting all school routines in a responsible and efficient manner
- Enjoys working with students with disabilities, cognitive deficits, health, physical and medical needs, and/or multiple impairments.
- Possesses creative problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates willingness to contribute to the overall function and well-being of the department and the school
- Expertise in health-related fitness concepts and fitness assessment
- Demonstrated ability to help students create an individualized fitness plan
- Familiar with various forms of authentic physical education assessments
- Demonstrated ability to openly communicate with parents regarding students’ progress
- Certified in CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard Training
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SALARY: $41,040-$52,800
Per WTA Contract
