Maintenance Worker -HVAC

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates with assigned personnel and/or other trades for the purpose of completing projects and work orders efficiently. Diagnoses causes of problems and/or failures in heating/air conditioning systems for the purpose of identifying equipment and/or systems repair and/or replacement needs.
2. Fabricates equipment parts for the purpose of meeting specialty needs and/or replacing unavailable parts. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
3. Inspects HVAC systems and their components (e.g. heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, chillers, RTU’s, boilers, etc.) for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
4. Installs heating and air conditioning equipment and systems for the purpose of providing enhanced and/or upgraded capabilities. 
5. Maintains vehicle, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition. Participates in meetings, workshops, training, and seminars, as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions. 
6. Performs routine and preventive maintenance as needed for the purpose of ensuring the ongoing functioning of HVAC/refrigeration systems. Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information. 
7. Repairs heating and air conditioning systems and/or components (e.g. pumps, motors, air handlers, fan coils, piping, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring a comfortable work environment.  
8. Experience with programming energy management systems. Knowledge of geothermal systems.
9. Requests equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of items required to complete the necessary installation and/or repair. 
10. Responds to emergency situations during or after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Assist other Buildings and Grounds Department personnel with snow/ice removal and salting operations.
11. Transports a variety of tools, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring the availability of materials required at the job site. 
12. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Qualifications:

• Ability to deal effectively and courteously with associates, staff and the general public required
• General knowledge of care and maintenance of buildings required
• Demonstrated competency and/or aptitude for assigned duties
• General knowledge maintenance and safety procedures
• Demonstrated experience in HVAC and plumbing required. Technical school diploma or minimum 2 years experience in HVAC maintenance, Universal EPA Refrigeration Certificate 
• Acts 34, 114, 151, and 168 clearances
• Valid PA driver’s license
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Journeyman and/or Apprentice Level work in HVAC desired
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
• Technical school training graduate in related trades preferred
• Proven work experience in building and mechanical maintenance and repair

Salary : $25 - $26
