What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at DMJ Transportation?
DMJ Transportation is a local school transportation contractor looking to add a qualified part-time dispatcher to our team. Applicants must be available for a four-hour shift from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be willing to rotate between all terminal locations (Greensburg Salem, Hempfield, Mount Pleasant, and Latrobe).
The overall objective of the job is to maintain and oversee daily operations efficiently by answering calls and communicating with drivers to send the appropriate response and performing clerical duties.
Essential Responsibilities Include:
1. Maintains an up-to-date listing of school buses and assigned drivers/monitors
2. Ensures access to up-to-date route sheets for each route
3. Ensures that each scheduled route is appropriately covered by utilizing available relief or substitute drivers/monitors
4. Maintains cordial working relationship with drivers, monitors, and all office staff
5. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of DMJ's fleet software
6. Sets and confirms schedule and calendar daily
7. Communicates with employees, dispatching to needed locations to respond to routine requests or emergency situations
8. Maintain or assist in maintaining assigned files and records; receive and process information according to established guidelines
9. Communicate with outside organizations, businesses, government organizations, local police, and others as appropriate
10. Communicate with parents, supervisors, school administrators and department employees; receive requests, questions, concerns, and suggestions and provide routine information and assistance or route to appropriate personnel
11. Maintain current knowledge of routes and locations to ensure timely services and accurate information
12. Perform a variety of clerical support duties as assigned along with general office cleaning and upkeep
13. Operate standard office machines
Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age
Ability to pass PA Criminal History, FBI Fingerprint and Child Abuse background checks
Education/Training Required:
High school diploma/GED
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
Experience with Google Docs
Work Experience Required:
Must have experience in a customer service related position
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
