JOB TITLE: Associate Director of the American State Bank Sports Complex
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
REPORTS TO: Director, American State Bank Sports Complex
STATUS: Full-time administrative staff
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Provides leadership of the American State Bank Sports Complex with the facility director in concert with Dordt’s mission and oversees the various administrative functions associated with the facility. The Associate Director supports the distinct mission of Dordt University and creates an environment in which staff personally grow and students, participants, and patrons develop through their experience at the American State Bank Sports Complex. The Associate Director leads in ways that enhance Dordt’s and the City of Sioux Center’s reputation and brand with all audiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with the Director of the American State Bank Sports Complex to establish an annual set of performance goals for the facility which will include objectives for: targeted programming, facility usage, patron experience, brand growth, revenue growth, and personnel development.
- Create a culture and climate in which activities are administered in a uniquely Christian manner and in which the Defender Way is accentuated.
- Provide administrative oversight for duties and responsibilities for the following:
- Develop fresh and meaningful programming in an effort to attract new audiences to frequent the facility.
- Confirm staff has current certifications and licensure (e.g. fork truck, lift, heavy equipment).
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures regarding facility care and compliance. Collaborate with the Director of the ASB Sports Complex to maintain the facility.
- Ensure the welfare of the facility is being taken care of in all facets – repairs/maintenance service contracts, supplies restocking, and ordering.
- Ensure necessary equipment is available in working order.
- Assist in recruiting, hiring, and retaining staff, including student employees.
- Maximize the use of student employees in the operation of the facility
- Advance the growth of the ASB Sports Complex program by actively supporting the philosophy and goals of Dordt University and the City of Sioux Center.
- Event management as needed on weekdays and weekends.
- Ensure that all appropriate documentation and reporting are being completed within the correct time frames and maintained in Dordt’s records.
- Assist in leading livestreaming efforts in the facility.
- Coordinate closely with members of the Dordt University coaching staff and City of Sioux Center work staff to ensure facility schedules are current and accessible.
- Participate in the meetings of the City’s Joint Use Committee and the Indoor Turf Facility Committee.
- Collaborate with the Dordt University Event Coordinator regarding activities held in the ASB Sports Complex. Performs other duties as needed for Dordt University and/or the City of Sioux Center.

- A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.•
- Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.

- Proven track record of leading facilities, departments, or organizations.
- Strategic planning skills necessary to cast vision for the ASB Sports Complex and verbal skills to articulate that vision.
- Administrative skills necessary for budgeting, handling expenses, and analyzing statistical information.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills which create excitement and clarity to audiences.
- Leadership, coordination, and short-term planning skills necessary for scheduling and managing activities.
- Creative capacities necessary to develop and offer new programming at the ASB Sports Complex.
