SUMMARY:
A Drafter collaborates with architects and engineers to convert designs into technical plans using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role is essential for translating design concepts into accurate technical plans ensuring the creation of functional and well-designed products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
- Liaise with engineers to gather product and design requirements.
- Calculate dimensions, weight limitations and material specifications.
- Create detailed designs using CAD software.
- Create manuals describing product operation, features, and maintenance.
- Prepare and review rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team.
- Ensure final designs comply with regulations and quality standards.
- Identify potential operation issues and redesign products to improve functionality.
- Prepare diagrams, schematics, maps and layouts to illustrate product installation and workflow.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks.
- 3 years of Drafting/Technical Illustration experience.
- Fluency in AutoCad/DraftSight, exposure to Adobe Suite.
- Experience with 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks and familiarity with 3D modeling tools.
- Basic knowledge of electronics is desirable.
- Proficient in configuration management, ERP systems and engineering data management.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Familiarity with aircraft interior/cabin lighting and environmental control components and system.
- Familiarity with custom manufacturing environment.
- Fluency in MS Office Suite
SKILLS:
- Ability to plan a project from specifications, concepts, ideas, marketing inputs and customer feedback, then complete product design and development.
- Ability to use AutoCad and 3D Cad software
- Demonstrate strong technical drawing skills.
- Possess robust math skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively with a team.
EDUCATION:
- BS or advanced degree in Mechanical Drafting OR
- Mechanical Drafting and Design Certificate plus 6 years of directly related experience may be substituted for degree.
