Job Summary
The Vice President of Revenue Cycle Billing will oversee the entire revenue cycle management process, including billing, coding, collections, and payer relationships, with a focus on wound care services. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting, a deep understanding of wound care billing protocols, and the ability to lead and drive performance improvements in a complex and fast-paced environment. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a critical role in optimizing revenue and ensuring compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue Cycle Oversight
Lead the strategic direction and operational management of the revenue cycle process, ensuring accurate billing, timely claims submission, and efficient collections.
Oversee the full cycle of billing for wound care services, ensuring compliance with payer-specific guidelines (Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance) and proper coding for wound care treatments.
Identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to optimize the revenue cycle, reduce accounts receivable, and improve cash flow.
Team Leadership & Development
Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to the revenue cycle billing team, ensuring high performance, accountability, and alignment with company goals.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement through training, professional development, and performance management of team members.
Manage staffing, budgeting, and departmental goals to ensure optimal team performance.
Wound Care Billing Expertise
Apply in-depth knowledge of wound care-specific billing practices, including coding for wound treatments, regenerative medicine, and related procedures.
Ensure the integration of wound care best practices within the broader revenue cycle strategy.
Monitor reimbursement trends, payer requirements, and industry regulations to proactively address potential challenges in the wound care billing process.
Process Optimization & Technology Integration
Evaluate and streamline revenue cycle workflows to improve operational efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance billing performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, finance, and clinical leadership, to leverage technology solutions that drive improvements in billing and coding processes.
Implement new technologies or systems to support revenue cycle operations, ensuring that they meet both company needs and industry standards.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations, including HIPAA, billing codes, and reimbursement policies.
Provide regular reporting and analysis of key performance indicators (KPIs), offering insights and actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
Oversee audits, internal controls, and compliance initiatives to identify and resolve discrepancies or inefficiencies in the revenue cycle.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Act as the primary point of contact for all revenue cycle-related inquiries, including from clinical staff, insurance carriers, and external partners.
Foster strong relationships with insurance carriers, third-party payers, and other external stakeholders to address billing issues and ensure prompt reimbursement.
Work closely with clinical and operational teams to ensure smooth integration of revenue cycle processes with patient care delivery.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in revenue cycle management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong experience in wound care billing and coding, with expertise in wound care-specific procedures, treatments, and regulations.
Deep understanding of healthcare billing systems, payer relationships, and industry best practices.
Proven track record of successfully managing and optimizing revenue cycle performance in a healthcare organization.
Expertise in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and healthcare billing software (e.g., EPIC, Cerner, etc.).
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
