The Business Development Manager role oversees the operations of the sales department including hiring, developing, and coaching the sales team. The Business Development Manager is responsible for managing department goals and objectives when it comes to sales goals, client retention, and monthly recurring revenue. The Business Development Manager will “lead by example” by having experience in all areas of the sales process and being able to fully understand the function and responsibilities of each role on the sales team.
Reports To: Director of Operations
Position Overview
- The Business Development Manager is responsible for the successful functioning of the sales team. This includes hiring salespeople who exemplify the expectations and culture of DSC Communications.
- Manage direct reports on the team as well as maintain a leadership relationship with all members of the team.
- The Business Development Manager is ultimately responsible for the team's ability to meet established new client development, strategic relationship, and overall sales and company financial goals.
- Drive team accountabilities concerning process and procedures within the department and the company as a whole.
- Ensure the DSC Communications Leadership Team is clear on the plan and results of the DSC Communications sales team.
Job Responsibilities
- Work with company leadership to develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales goals. This includes new client acquisition, strategic solution goals, monthly recurring revenue, and customer product and services sales goals.
- Hire or be part of the hiring process for open positions on the sales team.
- Provide clear direction on goals and expected results for members of the sales team.
- Identify and implement procedures to improve all functions of the sales team.
- Be responsible for disciplinary action of members of the sales team up to, and including termination of employment. Also, maintain proper documentation of the disciplinary process for each situation.
- Exemplify the culture and core values of DSC Communications to members of the sales team.
- Work with both MR (government) and PCR (non-government) teams at Motorola to foster greater collaboration with the DSC Communications sales team to meet Motorola goals and objectives.
Accountabilities And Performance Measures
- Responsible for the success of meeting all sales goals as defined by the DSC Communications Leadership Team.
- Meets assigned expectations for profitability by maintaining appropriate margin goals.
- Responsible for sales team employee satisfaction.
- Completes required training and development objectives within the assigned time frame.
Organizational Alignment
- Work with DSC Communications Leadership Team. This position is also a member of the Leadership Team. Candidate should be experienced in management.
- Provide accountability for sales team performance to all employees of DSC Communications.
Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions
- This position requires extensive travel throughout sales territories.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
